Scoop Up a Pint or Two at Crave

Epworth Ice Cream is now available by the pint or in the café at Crave Artisan Specialty Market, located at 2483 Millwood Avenue in Columbia. The shop features a variety of local, artisan, small-batch foods including local honey, fresh produce, milk, eggs, BBQ sauces, jams and much more.

The ice cream, which hit store shelves this summer, been a popular addition to the market, says owner John Brunty. In fact, in the first week the ice cream was in stock at Crave, the store sold out — twice!

I wanted to carry it for many reasons. It’s such a good cause and I’ve known people who grew up there. What we do is sell good-quality, local products that have great stories. So many people have come here specifically to buy the ice cream.
— John Brunty

With high demand and plenty of ice-cold stock, Brunty has all four flavors available for his customers — Original Peanut Butter, Caramel with Caramel-Filled Chocolate, Vanilla Bean and Vanilla Chocolate Swirl with Peanut Butter Cups. The biggest seller? “Peanut butter,” says Brunty. “When people hear the story about the peanut butter rations that started everything, that’s what they often choose. But, says Brunty, people who grew up with the ice cream and know the story often just crave that familiar peanutty flavor they loved when they were young.
