Your support transformed our $50,000 into $100,000 from Google.


We’re humbled, and excited.

On October 10, Google announced that Epworth Children’s Home was the People’s Choice winner of the Google Impact Challenge. After a week of public voting, Epworth was granted an additional $50,000 as the winner over three other deserving Midlands-area nonprofits, each of whom were selected last month along with Epworth to receive $50,000 in grants and training from Google to support economic opportunity in the Midlands.

These grant monies will provide our former foster youth with job training, internships and hands-on business experience at Epworth Ice Cream. This is critical because they represent a population segment with historically high rates of unemployment and homelessness. The Google grant also positions us to expand Epworth Ice Cream sales into other markets across South Carolina, greatly extending the program where 100 percent of profits benefit Epworth Children’s Home.

It’s a sweet moment for foster youth in Columbia, and we thank you for helping our children and families live a better life.
